Welcome to Modbux! This guide will help you get up and running quickly.
- Go to the latest release
- Download the appropriate version for your platform:

macOS:
modbux-{version}-universal.dmg

- Run the
.exeinstaller - Follow the installation wizard
- Launch Modbux from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut
- If Windows SmartScreen appears, click "More info" → "Run anyway"
macOS:
- Open the
.dmgfile - Drag Modbux to your Applications folder
- Launch from Applications
- On first launch, right-click the app and select "Open" (or go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → "Open Anyway")
When you open Modbux, you'll see the home screen with three options:
- Server (left): Simulate Modbus devices
- Split (middle): Open both client and server in separate windows
- Client (right): Connect to Modbus devices
Choose the mode you want to work in by clicking the corresponding button.
If you want to connect to and test a Modbus device:
- Click the Client button
- Configure your connection (TCP or RTU)
- Click Connect
- Start reading and writing registers

If you want to simulate a Modbus device:
- Click the Server button
- Configure your server (port, Unit ID)
- Add registers (coils, holding registers, etc.)
- Your server starts automatically

If you want to test both client and server simultaneously:
- Click the Split button (middle icon)
- A new window opens with the server
- Your main window becomes the client
- You can now test client-server communication locally
