Here's a step-by-step manual to encrypt a file with GoFileEncoder (version 1.1.0)

If you have an older version, or just don't have GoFileEncoder, you should get or update GoFileEncoder; get the latest release here.

Note

The manual is made for English speakers, so the user interface is in English. If you speak another language, the steps are the same - just the text changes. Get translations here.

1. Start GoFileEncoder

The way to do it may vary depending of your OS. On Windows, simply double-click on the executable file.

2. Choose an action

A window with this content should open:

What would you like to do?
 - Encode a file (e)
 - Decode a file (d)
 - Read the license (l)
(e/d/l)>>>

Press e, then Enter to select Encode a file.

3. Select the source file

This text appears:

Press [Enter] to select a file...

Press back Enter. A popup should open: Select the file you want to encrypt, and valid.

4. Set the password

This prompt should display:

Enter the password:

Enter the password you want, and press Enter.

Caution

If you forget your password, you won't be able to open the encrypted file. Make sure you remember it!

Note

To be sure nobody can read the password, it won't be displayed on your screen. It's totally normal.

4. Save the output file

This text appears:

Press [Enter] to save a file...

Press back Enter. A popup should open: Select the file you want to save, and valid.

5. Wait

The program is encrypting your file. Please wait, and don't close the window.

6. End

When the file is encrypted, the window closes automatically.
