Description
There's been quite a few highlighting related changes in zsh since the last release and I'm somewhat anxious that these haven't received enough testing by people who actually use highlighting in complex and imaginative ways.
Particularly notable is the ability to assign a layer to highlight regions for greater control over precedence. So no need to duplicate functionality from zle_highlight. Where zsh 5.9 only accumulates attributes, it is possible to turn them off again. Italic and faint are now supported. It'd be easy to add four or five further simple on/off attributes apart from the lack of termcap sequences making that awkward to do portably. Something like underline colours would need further refactoring because we don't have enough bits available.
