Copy the output to the clipboard does not work

Describe the bug

When one wants to copy the output of the console after running a program then it does not copy anything to the clipboard.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to https://goplay.tools/
2. Click on Run button (top)
3. Scroll down to the Output section.
4. Select the output text generated
5. Click on the clipboard icon (bottom-right)
6. Try to paste the content.

Expected behavior
The output should be compiled to the clipboard per the selected text properly.

@joseluisq thanks for a reply. Did you install Chrome through flatpak, apt repo or deb file?

Also can you please check whether you see any errors or warnings in Console tab in Chrome DevTools?

I installed Chrome via a .deb file. I tested it in Firefox 134.0.1 and also it does not work.

Instead of using Canvas why don't you just use the DOM in a similar way to https://go.dev/play/? It should solve the issue.

@joseluisq thanks for the info, I will try to test this in VM.

Regarding the canvas - project uses xterm.js to support terminal escape sequences.

Canvas is used by default for performance reasons but you you can change this in Settings.

I understand.

I quickly tested changing to every rendering backend "Canvas", "DOM" and "WebGL" and none of them work with the copy to clipboard icon.

I just tried https://xtermjs.org/. I typed a ls command in the live terminal there (which uses Canvas) and I was able to copy the command output to my clipboard without issues.

Maybe it is something with how xtermjs is configured in the playground app?

I just tried to replicate the environment using a VM with Debian 12 and Google Chrome.
Unfortunately I can't replicate the issue.

Are you using X or Wayland session? (by default it defaults to Wayland).

As a workaround I can add option to disable terminal emulation.

My Debian machine uses this:

KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5

Kernel Version: 6.1.0-30-amd64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

But regardless, on my other ArchLinux machine with KDE 6.2.4, Qt 6.8.1 and Wayland. The copy to clipboard still does not work when using the default playground settings.

I thought it could be something related to KDE but if I try https://xtermjs.org/ and copy some command output from there then I can do it without issues. xtermjs.org uses Canvas too (as I saw) but it does not have a copy-to-clipboard button. Instead, it just lets you copy manually by selecting the text.
So I do not get why it does not work on the playground.

Anyways, unchecking the Emulate Terminal option works for me now. Maybe you want to investigate more why that happens, maybe we are missing something?
