after having toyed with the program some, i've got a couple issues i've encountered and some ideas to share.

issues:

• it seems as though the program lacks the ability to define a custom data input stream resolution, meaning the raw video seen within any video generated by this program is always stuck at a resolution of 256x256 [this is especially odd since i've seen videos made using this program in which this resolution is set to 128x128 instead.
  there is a good chance there is an argument for this that i've missed, but if so it's either not immediately clear or i'm sincerely just blind
• in some cases, the audio will become desynced from the video [encountered a few times but somehow failing to reproduce as of right now]
• when using installers as input, raw video stream playback will sometimes continue despite no file being highlighted in the file list [i can fathom a guess as to why but i'll mention it anyways just to be sure]

suggestions:

• an option to change the bitrate of the output file
• support for packed game file formats such as .pk3, .wad, .vpk and so on
• extremely long shot but a gui would be nice [please don't judge me i'm a windows user i'm allergic to CLI tools]

The input resolution can in fact be changed with arguments --input-width and --input-height. Take a look at the --help text.

That audio desync is something I've never encountered. Does it happen with the SDL exporter?

The installers issue: I'm assuming you're using EXE files that have a ZIP file concatenated with it (which contains the files to be extracted). The EXE parser only takes into account, well, the EXE part of that file. These kind of files are called hybrid files and Java programs also work in this way AFAIK. I bet you can open that installer with 7-Zip to prove my point.

The bitrate thing: yep, I noticed 6 Mbps is not enough sometimes. That's an upcoming feature, so stay tuned :)

The formats thing: believe it or not, I started researching the WAD format literally days before your suggestion. Other file formats like PK3 are ZIP-based (I think) so they should work out-of-the-box. If not, you can always force a specific parser.

The GUI thing: I also wanted to make a GUI for it and I have some experience with libraries like GTK, but now I'm experimenting with another library that will hopefully make thinks easier overall. That'll have to wait though, since this program is still riddled with bugs.

i had a feeling there should be some input resolution arguments. strangely enough, the help text just makes no mention of it on my end. maybe i screwed up compiling it but i almost kinda doubt it.

i've only been able to observe the desync issue with ffmpeg so far. it's weird since i've not been able to reproduce it. i mentioned it on the off chance it might have been a bug on the program's end and not my video player since it's pretty much impossible to know. i was using MPC-HC 2.4.0 if it helps.

i attempted to open the installers i ran through the program in 7zip but couldn't find anything helpful other than what seems to be standard PE structure such as an ".rsrc" folder, files named ".data", ".pdata", ".rdata" and so on.
i've noticed a fairly big file named "[0]" but extracting it and adding archiving file extensions to its name didn't work so maybe it IS some kind of undocumented proprietary format

Maybe you're using an old version of the program. The input resolution is a recent feature so do a quick git pull just in case.

The desync may probably be caused by the fact that FFmpeg doesn't really “clean up” the video file when piping it through standard output (that's not necessary anymore; you can just output directly to a file). The first thing you might notice is that on a piped video file there's no duration field (it appears as N/A in FFplay). One thing to note here is that I only tested Matroska (MKV) outputs, so maybe if you used a different format you're experiencing weird stuff that I have yet to discover. I think this is not possible since the format is still hardcoded.

The installers thing is an entire rabbit hole because there's just a ton of different formats from different vendors (like ClickTeam, InstallShield, DotSetup…). I wouldn't be surprised if that installer actually uses a proprietary format.

I've also encountered the problem of video and audio being out of sync and it happens quite often, the strange thing is that the problem only occurs on my computer but it behaves normally in some editing software on my phone and computer.
When I upload one of the videos to the video platform, the video platform suggests that there is an anomaly in the total duration of video or audio in my video.

And when I put one of the videos into Shutter Encoder for preview, the graph shows that the audio track is significantly out of sync with the video frame.

I can confirm the desync when importing the video in Kdenlive too. I'll investigate this but maybe it's a problem with the output audio buffer not having enough samples when generating the intro.

Whenever I export a video the program always warns “audio codec does not support variable frame size”, could this be the reason?

Nope, that's not it. In fact, I discovered that I was actually right: during GenerateIntro, audioFrame.TotalSampleCount is 800, but when reaching the GenerateMainVideo it changes to 1600. I'll fix it hopefully soon.
