Table of Contents not generated since version 2.7.0

First of all, thank you for creating and maintaining this very useful plugin!

Starting from version 2.7.0, the Table of Contents is no longer generated — only the heading "Table of Contents" appears, but without any actual content. My project files are very simple. I've reduced the structure to just a mkdocs.yml file and a few .md files.
I tested this on two different machines and tried all the latest versions starting from 2.7.0 up to the current release. In every case, the Table of Contents is not generated. However, when I install version 2.6.0, everything works correctly and the Table of Contents appears as expected. The headings in the documents are properly numbered, so the content structure seems to be recognized — it's just not being rendered in the Table of Contents section.

The Markdown files follow a basic structure like:

# Chapter 1

Some text

## Topic 1

Some text

mkdocs.yaml:
