Dependency skew

I recently began experimenting with DSPy (lovely work, from what I've seen to this point; many thanks for bringing it to its current state). pip install dspy into a WSL-over-Win10 instance failed, until I adjusted a few dependencies, including numpy==1.27.0 and sqlalchemy==1.4.2. With these two (or perhaps three) changes, dspy==3.0.4 installs and imports cleanly.

I'm still learning DSPy culture. Is a small observation like this worth a more precise report? Is a pull request which embodies such findings of value to others?

Thanks for the report, what was the root issue you faced? Are numpy==1.27.0 and sqlalchemy==1.4.2 incompatible with Windows10?

I tested this using a GitHub Actions workflow on Windows on my fork (my local machine is Linux). I first pinned numpy==1.26.0 (the minimum version supported by dspy) and sqlalchemy==1.4.2 and then installed dspy-ai==3.0.4 on my workflow file. The installation succeeded and DSPy imported without errors.

Also, not pinning numpy and sqlalchemy and directly installing dspy-ai==3.0.4 also ran fine without throwing error (this time pip installed the latest version supported by dspy for numpy and sqlalchemy)
