Does facet.key="Group" produce an average of coverage across groups?

I couldn't find mention of this anywhere and wanted some clarity on what happens to coverage when setting facet.key = "Group".

In my case using facet.key = "Type" produces a plot that's too busy. I'm wondering if facet.key = "Group" uses an average coverage across groups like if you were to use joint.avg with plot.type = "joint"?

facet.key = "Type"

facet.key = "Group"
