Usage of GPLv3 License

Hi 👋. This is more a question than an issue.

We've noticed that the packages from the repository are under GPL v3 (https://github.com/rakannimer/react-firebase/blob/master/modules/auth/package.json#L10). This impedes them from using in propietary/commercial software. Just to wanted to double check if this was a conscious decision? Is there any chance this can be modified to an MIT license?
