Now that the ESP32-WROOM-32E N16R2 seems to be discontinued or difficult to source — where should developers be looking next?

• Are we seeing the end of microcontrollers that combine both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Audio capabilities in a compact and affordable form factor?

• Is this type of platform (Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Audio) no longer relevant or actively used in modern embedded development workflows?

• Should we start considering a move towards platforms like the Raspberry Pi or similar single-board computers, even for use cases traditionally handled by microcontrollers?

Since Espressif is planning to drop support for Classic Bluetooth in Arduino my current recommendation would be

• consider a hardware solution using a A2DP module
• consider to use a RP2040W which provides an A2DP example w/o additional library
