DBD-Oracle 1.90 not installing on Debian 13

After updating a server to Debian 13 with Perl v5.40.1, DBD-Oracle 1.90 does not install.

This is due to libaio.so.1 not being found.

Package libaio1 is not included in Debian 13, it has been replaced by libaio1t64.

Is there a workaround for this (e.g. soft links), or is this being fixed in a future update?

I am not a debian user.
I think it might be better to wait for the new libdbd-oracle-perl to be released.

This is an Oracle Instant Client behavior since it was built / certified on older / other platforms.

I've seen people create links to hack a solution, e.g. https://forums.oracle.com/ords/apexds/post/instant-client-on-ubuntu-24-04-noble-numbat-7244

I created the soft link after installing the latest Oracle client. The DBD-Oracle module did not install. The following is showing in the build.log file:

This also happened after trying to use cpanm --force to try the install.

I had the same error message when compiling DBD::Oracle on Debian 13/trixie with perl-5.42.0 and oracle client 21.19.
After I switched to the DEV version 1.91_2 for DBD::Oracle it worked - maybe this helps someone.

(Note: I'm the current maintainer for libdbd-oracle-perl in Debian)

It turns out that the symlink fix should work since the SONAME bump to libaio.so.1t64 is ABI compatible, as explained by the libaio Debian maintainer.

I didn't know that at the time I was preparing libdbd-oracle-perl for Debian trixie, so I came up with a different solution that forbid the package to be included in time for the release.

I will revert those changes and try to get the package ready for trixie.
