Error message "Could not create an instance of type org.gradle.initialization.DefaultSettings_Decorated" with JDK 17

When trying to run the gradlew version of hellofx with JDK 17, I got this error message:

Could not create an instance of type org.gradle.initialization.DefaultSettings_Decorated

The solution was to change the gradle version in gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.properties from 5.0 to 7.5
