Ability to trigger functions from events?

I notice that via the withPusher / mapEventsToProps it seems that this is primarily mapping data directly from the events to props - is there a way or example of triggering functions from the events? Thank you.

You mean you want to trigger events? Yeah, I just noticed that pusher is allowing this nowadays, back when I was working with pusher this wasn't the case. I already made some thoughts about this and it could look like the following.

  mapPropsToValues: props => ({
    items: [],
  }),
  events: {
    'itemChannel.add': (item, state, props) => ({
      items: state.items.concat(item),
    }),
  },
functions: {
  sendNewItem: (trigger, state, params) => {
    // trigger event
    trigger('channel.event', params);
    // modify or not?!
    return {
      items: state.concat(params),
    }
  },
}
};

but hm, somehow I'm for now not satisfied by that. Do you maybe have another proposal or idea how to solve this?
