New Pimcore License and your License

Hi,

now that we had the news that Pimcore is no longer free from v12/2025.1 AND can't be used in combination with GPL software anymore, what does this mean for projects using this bundle?
Currently you are licensing this as either GPLv3 or DCL, does this mean that going forward all Pimcore users need to acquire a commercial license via Dachcom to use Dynamic Search?

Hey @HageMaster3108: We are currently in the evaluation phase and have not yet made a final decision. At this stage, we are assessing various options regarding our future direction.

We are aware that our community – especially those actively working with our bundles – also need clarity and time to make their own informed decisions. That’s why we are in close contact with Pimcore to explore possible solutions together, particularly with regard to legal considerations.

Migrating to Pimcore 12 is not on our immediate roadmap, as the Studio is still in development and has not yet reached a stable release. According to the official roadmap, the new CMS component is scheduled for Q3 of this year. This means that development cannot begin before then.

In parallel, we are focusing our internal resources on a complete backend overhaul, which is also a key factor in our strategic and timeline planning.

We expect to be able to share more concrete information on the next steps by the end of Q2 or beginning of Q3.

@solverat I think the fact that dachcom just released https://github.com/open-dxp sheds a new light on this. Congrats, bold move. However does it mean that your pimcore bundles, including this one, won't be supporting Pimcore >= 12?
