Click-To-Play animated WebP, Avif and PNGs inline #3909
Description
ConverseJS supports click-to-play GIF playback out of the box.
However, there are more image codecs, which support animations:
- WebP: This is a commonly used format for animated images (e.g. on Giphy or tumblr)
- Avif
- APNG
Currently WebP and Avif are just displayed as links in the chat and are downloaded to disk on click.
APNG ones are displayed, but auto playback currently with no means to stop the animation.
It'd be great if all formats were previewed and could be played back / paused on click.
Additional notes
I've tested this in the chat on https://conversejs.org/ in the Firefox 145 browser.
When opening the images directly in the browser (auto) playback worked fine for all mentioned formats.
