request for new feature: "quality metrics" and "template metrics" in the GUI

Following my question during the webinar, for many of us, I hope it would be a game changer if we could display the SI-calculated "quality metrics" and "template metrics" in the GUI in the "unit list" or while navigating in the "trace view" between spikes and see the metrics at the spike-level: what the half-width, SNR, spread, etc. of a particular single spike is. Single- and multi-channel waveforms vary dynamically, and until now, we only had these metrics as single numbers for the STA of a SUA cluster (averaged)... But now, as we have the option to look at the spikes and individual waveforms, these descriptive quantitative properties could possibly also be available for interactive viewing at the spike level. However, if this is not possible for some reason, displaying the already calculated average "metrics" values alongside the "unit list" would already be very informative. Hi,
normally it quality and template metrics are in extensions they should appear in the unit units automatically.
Some columns are hiden by default but you can put then back with the columns button.

At the moement, there is no "spikes metrics" in spikeinterface except spike amplitude and amplitude scaling, so it is hard to do it spikeinterface-gui before.

@meszena I don't think we will implement the machinery for doing this on-the-fly. As Sam mentioned, what we could do is to add the spike-level metrics to the SpikeView (e.g., amplitudes, locations, etc.). In this case, one could pre-compute the metrics by spike and make them available to the GUI.

Thank you so much for your answers! Yes, actually, even single-spike amplitudes could be informative too.
I think it would be great to visually explore spike-level variations in the data, scrolling back and forth, and the GUI is a good place for this. But I completely understand that there are metrics that are calculated elsewhere or differently and would not be possible at the spike level, here. So this is now more of a comment than a request. :)

I'm thinking of adding a new extension in SpikeInterface called waveform_features, which computes template metrics at the single spike level. Once this is available, it will be super easy to add a dedicated view in the GUI!
