Description
Description
It is common to explore activity diagrams without having exact times where some loose (often arbitrary) temporal sequencing is just wished to be shown. At the moment, some form of time representation is needed to visualise something. It would be useful to have this capability of also within the application.
Basic Example
No longer include the need to put a time and through definition of what would occur after or before, dynamically generate the visualisation from this information instead.
Drawbacks
The user experience may be more confusing, but perhaps no more confusing than the experience is already with an arbitrary number to represent time?
Unresolved questions
- How should unknown start / ends of unknown times be visualised? How should known events but at which time is unknown be visualised? The current chevron arrow signifies that we don't know that information, however we may know something started after one event but no more. Careful placement and communication of this information is required.
- How would the user input that an activity is sequentially after another activity?
- How would known timestamps be visualised alongside activities specified via a temporal sequence?
